The Difference Between AI and SI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is different to Synthetic Intelligence (SI).

Most modern implementations of Machine Learning, AI and Deep Neural Networks are nothing more than statistical pattern recognition.

That is why we created the term Synthetic Intelligence to differentiate what Senito does from what AI companies do.

In simple terms AI is about statistical pattern recognition using methods like neural networks, logistical regression and unsupervised pattern recognition (not learning). It does not have any inherent intelligence, except the intelligence of the programmer.

SI is different. SI is about developing machines who are engineered from the ground up to be capable of independent reasoning. The practical realisation of generally intelligent machines.
